Will March to Islamabad if Electricity Prices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Are Not Reduced: Aimal Wali

Aimal Wali Khan, the President of the Awami National Party (ANP), has expressed frustration that while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is generating cheap electricity, a relief of 14 rupees per unit is being provided in Punjab.

He stated that if electricity rates in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are not reduced, the ANP will march to Islamabad and hold a sit-in a month from now.

Aimal Wali criticized the reduction of electricity bills in provinces where Independent Power Producers (IPPs) are abundant, stating that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is not producing even a single megawatt from IPPs, so why should the people of the province bear their burden?

He argued that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has the right to determine its electricity rates based on production costs, and called on the federal government to take urgent steps to pay the arrears owed to the province for electricity and gas.

It is worth noting that three days ago, Nawaz Sharif, the President of the Pakistan Muslim League (N), alongside Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, announced in a press conference that those consuming up to 500 units of electricity in the province would receive a relief of up to 14 rupees per unit for two months.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also praised the steps taken by the Punjab Chief Minister to reduce electricity prices, while Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Atta Tarar stated that Nawaz Sharif is sensitive to the pain of the people and always works for their welfare.
