Two Bridges Collapse in River Astor, Disconnecting Land Routes and Stranding Tourists

Two bridges in the village of Fina over the River Astor have collapsed, severing land connections and leaving tourists stranded.

In response, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has instructed the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to organize a rescue operation for the stranded tourists. The Prime Minister has also directed the provision of an alternative route to the village of Fina.

Additionally, in anticipation of potential flooding in urban areas of Punjab, the Prime Minister has instructed NDMA, PDMAs, and other relevant agencies to remain on high alert. He emphasized that he will personally oversee the expected severe monsoon spell until August 25 and stressed the importance of preparing for emergency evacuations and drainage.
