True Value of a Stone Considered Worthless for Decades is Astonishing

Sometimes, what seems like trash to one person can be a treasure to another. A similar astonishing incident occurred in Romania, where a stone that had been used to prop open a door for decades turned out to be extremely valuable.

The 3.5-kilogram stone was discovered by a woman at the bottom of a spring in southeastern Romania, who brought it home and used it for everyday tasks.

According to local media, the stone turned out to be one of the largest pieces of amber in the world, valued at approximately 1.1 million dollars (around 300 million Pakistani rupees).

Amber is actually fossilized resin from ancient trees that solidified over millions of years. The woman was a resident of Colti, a village in Romania where several valuable stones have been found.

The stone was so unremarkable that even thieves who once visited her home left it behind, thinking it was worthless. After the woman’s death in 1991, the house, along with the stone, was inherited by one of her relatives.
