Third School Fire Incident in Kenya Within Days

Kenya has witnessed its third school fire incident in just a few days, with the latest blaze completely destroying a school hostel.

Last Thursday, a fire broke out in the hostel of a primary boarding school in Kenya, resulting in the death of over 17 children. According to a British news agency, the incident occurred at Hillside Endarasha Academy, a private boarding school located 150 kilometers from Nairobi in the Central Highlands, where 800 students resided.

Following this, another fire broke out on Saturday at a girls’ school in Isiolo County, injuring several students, though police reported no fatalities.

Most recently, a fire at Ngiya Boys School in Kenya’s central county of Meru completely destroyed a hostel building housing approximately 150 students. Fortunately, all students were outside the hostel at the time, so no injuries or fatalities were reported.

Taking notice of the repeated school fire incidents, the President of Kenya has ordered action against those responsible for these events.
