Sindh Government Approves 1.5 Billion Rupees for Road Repairs in Karachi

The Sindh government has approved the release of 1.5 billion rupees for the restoration of roads affected by recent rains in Karachi.

A review meeting on the repair of rain-damaged roads in Karachi was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah. The meeting was attended by Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, Provincial Minister for Planning and Development Nasir Shah, Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani, Chief Secretary, and other officials.

According to the Chief Minister’s spokesperson, the meeting approved 1.5 billion rupees for the repair of roads damaged during the rains and agreed that patchwork is needed for roads across the city’s seven districts.

Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani informed the meeting that a survey of Karachi’s roads is being conducted, including an assessment of when the roads deteriorated.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed that if any recently repaired roads are deteriorating prematurely, an inquiry should be conducted to identify who constructed them and why they failed. Strict action should be taken against those responsible for substandard work.

The Chief Minister also instructed the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to ensure that proper drainage systems are built alongside road construction and that service lines are provided for each road. He emphasized that foot overpasses and bridges need to be repaired and constructed across all districts of Karachi, and that the quality of road repair and construction should be of the highest standard.

The Karachi Mayor mentioned that 1.5 billion rupees are needed for these tasks, and the Chief Minister approved the allocation of these funds.
