Shakil Khan’s Written Statement Submitted to the Good Governance Committee Revealed
The written statement submitted by former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial minister Shakil Khan to the Good Governance Committee has surfaced.
In his statement, Shakil Khan disclosed that the Secretary of Communications and Works (C&W) released 6.87 billion rupees for development projects. When he inquired about the 10% to 20% commission, the Secretary replied that the Chief Minister himself was overseeing the matter.
Shakil Khan stated that he informed the senior leadership of the party about the corruption and mismanagement. He further mentioned that the Secretary had informed him that 200 million rupees from the contracts were given to the Chief Minister, and on July 31, he presented all the facts during a meeting with the PTI founder.
On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Advisor Barrister Saif stated that the Good Governance Committee reviewed Shakil Khan’s written response. The committee sent recommendations to the Chief Minister based on evidence and proof.
Barrister Saif emphasized that the committee was not under any pressure and submitted a report against Shakil Khan based on solid evidence.
It should be noted that Shakil Khan had resigned from his position as the Minister for Communications and Works in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. However, KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur stated that Shakil Khan was removed following a recommendation from the Good Governance Committee, which was formed with the approval of PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
In response, Governor KP Faisal Karim Kundi mentioned that Shakil Khan was removed from his ministry for exposing corruption within the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. He added that signing the summary to remove him fulfilled the constitutional and legal requirements.
