Resolving Conflicts Like Occupied Jammu & Kashmir and Palestine is Essential for Lasting Peace: Munir Akram

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, stated that for lasting peace, conflicts such as those in Occupied Jammu & Kashmir and Palestine must be resolved.

While addressing a debate in the United Nations Security Council on the establishment and promotion of peace, he emphasized the need for regional and international support in resolving these conflicts.

He mentioned that the failure to address the root causes of terrorism and violent extremism has led to the spread of conflicts. In this regard, international strategies have largely been flawed, ineffective, and unsatisfactory.

Munir Akram further highlighted that the consequences of foreign occupation are evident in Occupied Jammu & Kashmir and Palestine.

He urged that it is the responsibility of the Security Council to put an end to Israel’s ongoing genocidal war in Gaza.

He also pointed out that the fight against terrorism in Pakistan’s border areas has been successful due to the support, assistance, and involvement of local communities. He expressed hope that the debate in the Council would lead to new perspectives.
