Reducing NFC necessary to address budget deficit: Awam Pakistan Party Leader

Leaders of the Awam Pakistan Party (APP) have stated that the budget deficit will not be addressed until the current NFC (National Finance Commission) is reduced. They emphasized that if the federal government becomes financially stronger, fewer currency notes will need to be printed, leading to lower inflation.

Speaking at the launch event of a document outlining the goals, vision, and ideology of the Awam Pakistan Party at a private hall in Karachi, the party’s convener, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, said that to govern effectively, the people’s interests must be prioritized, and their fundamental rights must be fulfilled. He stressed that the solutions to all problems lie within the constitution, and it is imperative to return to it.

He highlighted the need to provide the public with electricity, water, gas, employment, and healthcare. He also noted that there are no miraculous solutions to problems, and efforts must be made to resolve them.

The APP leader further remarked that those who break the country’s constitution never succeed.

He added that the real issue is not IPPs (Independent Power Producers) but the failure of the economy, which deteriorates when elections are rigged.

Speaking at the event, the party’s organizing secretary, Miftah Ismail, said that shutting down IPPs would not cause much harm, but taxes on household electricity bills should be eliminated. He also mentioned that the federal government must end the development funds amounting to 450 billion rupees.

Miftah Ismail further stated that some nationalists exploit poverty to create divisions among the people, but the real issue is not ethnicity—it’s poverty.

Members of the organizing committee were also present at the event and delivered speeches.
