Police Officers’ Sit-In Against Attacks on Police Continues for the Third Day

In Lakki Marwat, police officers continued their protest sit-in for the third consecutive day against attacks on police personnel. A large number of police officers in plain clothes from the districts of Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan (D.I. Khan), Tank, and Karak joined the protest at Lieutenant Adnan Shaheed Chowk in Tajazai, Lakki Marwat.

Despite the sit-in, the third round of negotiations between the government team and the police officers at Tajazai Chowk ended without any results. The protest blocked the Indus Highway, causing long queues of vehicles and severe inconvenience to passengers, with fruit, vegetable, and other goods-laden trucks stuck as well.

The protesters stated that they would continue their sit-in until their demands were met, calling for empowering the police in operations against terrorists.

The sit-in was attended by local residents, elders, bar association members, traders, students, civil society, and political and religious leaders from various areas. The protesters held banners with messages of peace and solidarity.

Prominent figures, including JUI Senator Maulana Atta-ur-Rehman, former district Nazim Ashfaq Khan Meena Khel, Chairman of Marwat Betani Tehreek Inamullah Khan, leader of Abakhel Qaumi Jirga Naseer Turab, and Jamaat-e-Islami leader and former district councilor Irfanullah Khan, also addressed the gathering.
