Oil Tanker Explosion in Nigeria After Collision with Truck, 48 Killed

An oil tanker exploded after colliding with another vehicle in Maiduguri, Nigeria, killing 48 people and injuring many others.

According to a foreign news agency, local authorities reported that the oil tanker collided with a truck carrying passengers and livestock while passing on the road. The collision caused the tanker to explode, engulfing the passenger truck and other vehicles in flames.

Authorities stated that 48 people lost their lives, and several others were injured. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Officials noted that many of the injured are in critical condition, raising fears that the death toll could increase.

It is worth mentioning that oil tanker accidents are common in Nigeria. In 2020 alone, more than 550 people lost their lives in similar incidents.
