Local Government Worked Day and Night, Improving Karachi’s Situation: Sindh Chief Minister

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, accompanied by Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, conducted a late-night tour of various areas in Karachi to inspect the restoration work following recent rains.

The Chief Minister visited the CPS pumping station to assess drainage efforts and toured areas including Saddar, Abdullah Haroon Road, Electronics Market, I.I. Chundrigar Road, and Tower. He also inspected the Nursery and Guru Mandir drains.

Expressing satisfaction with the cleanliness and clear streets, the Chief Minister praised the efforts of the local government workers, stating, “Murtaza Wahab stays awake at night so we can sleep peacefully. The local government workers have worked day and night, resulting in an improved situation in Karachi.”

He mentioned that a cyclone alert is in effect and that the administration is fully prepared. He assured that roads damaged by the rains would be repaired, noting that bags are still being found in the drains.

The Chief Minister also highlighted that areas like Badin, Tando Allahyar, Mirpurkhas, and others experienced heavy rainfall, with water flowing downstream from Balochistan. He noted that the Gaj dam significantly controlled the water flow, reducing the impact.

He acknowledged that while the FP Bund (Flood Protection Bund) is weak in some areas, work is ongoing to strengthen it, and the Irrigation Department is addressing the breaches.
