Lahore: Farmers’ Union Postpones Protest Against IPPs

In Lahore, the Farmers’ Union has postponed its protest against Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

Farmers’ Union leader Khalid Bath announced the postponement, stating that the administration has assured them that talks with IPPs will be held within two weeks.

He warned that if their demands regarding expensive electricity are not met, they will protest again with full force.

It is worth noting that farmers from various parts of Punjab had announced a protest and sit-in outside the IPPs’ office in Lahore, holding banners against IPPs and their unfair agreements.

The protesters stated that farmers keep the country running, and if they can’t sustain themselves, the country won’t function either. Despite being an agricultural country, people are struggling to afford basic meals.
