The Sindh government spokesperson has urged Governor Kamran Tessori to raise the issue of relief in electricity bills for the people of Sindh with the Prime Minister.
Reacting to Governor Sindh’s press conference, Sindh government spokesperson and Sukkur Mayor Barrister Arsalan Islam Sheikh stated that Governor Kamran Tessori represents the federal government in Sindh, and that electricity tariffs are a federal responsibility. He urged the Governor to bring up the concerns of the people of Sindh with the federal government.
During the press conference, Barrister Arsalan mentioned that over 70% of revenue and 77% of gas come from Sindh, making it the constitutional right of the province to have its needs met first.
Governor Sindh, Kamran Tessori, had earlier announced his intention to write a letter to the Sindh government, requesting them to provide relief in electricity bills similar to Punjab. Tessori emphasized that if the people of Sindh do not receive the same relief as those in Punjab, it could lead to a sense of deprivation.
In response, Sindh government spokesperson Saadia Javed stated that Kamran Tessori should demand relief for all provinces from the Prime Minister. She also mentioned that the Sindh government will soon make an important announcement to provide relief to the people burdened by high electricity bills.
