Iran Warns of Possible Delay in Retaliation Against Israel for the Killing of Ismail Haniyeh

Iran has indicated that the anticipated retaliatory strike against Israel for the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh could be delayed.

Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini, spokesperson for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), stated that the enemy would have to wait for Iran’s measured and precise response.

He noted that Iran’s reaction might not resemble past actions, emphasizing that time is on their side, and the wait for a response against Israel could be prolonged.

General Ali Mohammad further claimed that the Zionist regime had specific objectives in the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh but failed to achieve them. Instead, the resistance front has only grown stronger.

He added that while Iran supports a ceasefire in Gaza, this stance does not affect Iran’s right to retaliate against Israel.

Earlier, in the second week of August, American and British media reported that Iran might soon launch an attack on Israel to avenge the killing of Ismail Haniyeh.

John Kirby, spokesperson for the U.S. National Security Council, told reporters at the White House that they must be prepared for a significant attack on Israel.

Two days ago, a spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry reiterated that under the United Nations Charter, Iran has the right to defend its security and territorial integrity, and expecting Iran to exercise restraint is an unreasonable request.
