In Balochistan, Floods and Terrorist Attacks Lead to Suspension of Train Services, Railways Suffering Daily Losses of 1.5 Million Rupees

Due to floods and terrorist attacks in Balochistan, train services have been suspended for several days, causing daily losses of 1.5 million rupees to the railways.

In the Bolan district of Balochistan, a railway bridge collapsed due to a terrorist attack, and train services from Quetta to other parts of the country have not been restored even a week later.

Last week, a railway bridge built during the British Raj in the Dozan area of Bolan collapsed due to a bomb blast. The collapse of the bridge halted rail services to Punjab and Sindh, and the Railways Department has not been able to restore services even after a week.

According to railway officials, the restoration of train services from Quetta to interior locations has been delayed because the Railways Department has yet to receive security arrangements from the Balochistan Home Department and FC. Despite requests for security, no decision has been made yet, and the Railways Department has not arranged for buses to transport passengers.

Additionally, the train service from Sibi to Hernai has been closed since July 23, and repairs to the Sibi-Hernai railway track have not been completed even after a month and a half.

Moreover, the Quetta-Chaman train service has been suspended for two days due to rainwater flooding a tunnel in the Shela Bagh area of Qilla Abdullah. The restoration of this service may take several more days.

Railway officials report that the suspension of train services in the province is causing daily losses of 1.5 million rupees.
