Peshawar: Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman, has stated that they do not act on anyone’s directives, and if the government does not provide relief to the public within 41 days, he won’t be able to stop anyone from marching to D-Chowk.
While addressing a rally in Peshawar against rising inflation, electricity bills, and increased taxes, Hafiz Naeem said that the public is distressed by the increase in taxes, electricity load-shedding, and fuel prices.
The 25 crore (250 million) people have no representative, there is neither an opposition nor a government in the country. Workers must be prepared for a long struggle.
He also mentioned that if anyone thinks that Jamaat-e-Islami’s protests, like previous sit-ins, would fail, they are mistaken.
Jamaat-e-Islami has made a written agreement with the government and will continue sit-ins and strikes for 41 days as the voice of the oppressed.
Relief must be given to the people; there is no other option. Jamaat-e-Islami does not act on anyone’s directives, and if relief is not provided within 41 days, he won’t be able to stop anyone from marching to D-Chowk.
The rights of the people must be given, or the government will be overthrown.
He further stated that some Independent Power Producers (IPPs) are paid regardless of whether they produce electricity. In the agreement, it is written that a complete audit of the IPPs will be conducted. This is a long struggle, and no obstacles will be accepted.
Hafiz Naeem also said that Jamaat-e-Islami has never supported military operations. A new wave of terrorism has emerged, and now the former generals who claimed to establish peace through operations should apologize.
Enemies of the country are everywhere and are taking advantage of the current situation. Keeping the military and the public at odds is part of America’s agenda.
