First Visit by Foreign Ambassador to an Operational Nuclear Power Plant in Pakistan

In Karachi, China’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zedong, visited the operational nuclear power plants ‘K-2’ and ‘K-3’ with a delegation.

Dr. Raja Ali Raza Anwar, Chairman of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, welcomed the Chinese ambassador and his team.

The Chinese delegation was briefed on Pakistan’s nuclear power program. Dr. Anwar stated that the visit reflects the ongoing nuclear cooperation between Pakistan and China.

Ambassador Jiang Zedong expressed his pleasure at visiting the ‘K-2’ and ‘K-3’ nuclear power plants, noting that the visit symbolizes the importance the Chinese government places on this cooperation.

He added that the nuclear power plants built by China are playing a crucial role in benefiting the public.

The guests were also shown various sections of the ‘K-2’ nuclear power plant.

It is notable that the Chinese ambassador is the first foreign diplomat to visit an operational nuclear power plant in Pakistan.

Both nuclear power plants were established with Chinese cooperation and provide 2,200 megawatts of electricity to the national grid.
