Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has stated that discussions with the IMF Executive Board for the approval of the loan program are progressing and are at an advanced stage, with approval expected soon.
Speaking informally to journalists in Islamabad, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said that although a final date for the IMF Executive Board’s approval cannot be provided at this time, it is expected that the approval of the loan program will take place this month.
During the conversation, he also mentioned that discussions on external financing with the IMF will be finalized soon.
The Finance Minister added that Pakistan is negotiating deferred payment arrangements for oil with Saudi Arabia and discussing mutual agreements, projects, and investments with Saudi Arabia. Additionally, discussions are ongoing with commercial institutions for lending, apart from friendly countries.
