Explosions in Pagers Across Lebanon for One Hour: 8 Dead, 2750 Injured

Explosions in pagers across Lebanon have killed 8 people and injured 2,750, including the Iranian ambassador. Hezbollah members were using pagers for communication purposes.

In an emergency news conference, Lebanon’s Health Minister Firass Abiad stated that explosions in pagers across the country resulted in 8 deaths and 2,750 injuries. The government has declared an emergency in hospitals and appealed to citizens for blood donations.

According to foreign media, a wave of explosions, which began at 3:45 PM, lasted for almost an hour and affected pagers used by security personnel across Lebanon. It remains unclear how the devices were detonated, but it is being suggested that Israel may have hacked the communication devices used by Hezbollah.

Hundreds, including Hezbollah fighters and medical personnel, were injured in the blasts. Hospitals across the country were placed on high alert and quickly became overwhelmed with injured patients.

Among the injured is Iranian Ambassador Mojtaba Amani, though Iranian media reports that his condition is stable and out of danger.

Earlier, Lebanon’s Internal Security Forces had reported that several wireless communication devices, particularly in southern suburbs of Beirut, had been detonated, leading to hundreds of injuries.
