Former Indian cricketer and Member of Parliament, Harbhajan Singh, has made a significant statement regarding the investigation of the brutal rape and murder of a trainee lady doctor in Kolkata.

Harbhajan Singh expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident involving a “daughter of our country” in Kolkata, emphasizing that the entire nation should unite to demand justice and avoid politicizing the matter.

In a letter to the Governor of West Bengal, C.V. Ananda Bose, and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Harbhajan Singh stated that the sexual assault and murder case in Kolkata has shaken the entire country. He urged the state authorities to conduct a swift and transparent investigation, as public anger is mounting due to the delays in the case.

The former Test spinner also took to social media, asserting that there can be no compromise on the dignity and honor of women, and that the perpetrators involved in this heinous crime should be severely punished according to the law.

It is important to note that protests by doctors across India are ongoing in response to this inhumane incident. The 31-year-old trainee doctor was raped and murdered, and her body was found on August 9 in a room at Kolkata’s R.G. Kar Medical College Hospital.

Initially, the hospital administration suggested that the trainee doctor’s death was a suicide, but the post-mortem report confirmed that she had been raped. A Kolkata police volunteer has been detained for questioning in connection with the case.

Subsequently, a detailed medical report revealed that the victim had injuries on 14 different parts of her body, including extremely sensitive areas.
