Citizens Protest Against Sale of University Lands in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

In Mardan, citizens staged a strong protest against the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s decision to sell university lands, calling for a Grand Jirga.

Political parties, traders, lawyers, students, and citizens expressed their discontent, stating that after two PTI governments failed to advance the “Greater Education Complex” project, now Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur wants to sell the land for the complex, which they view as an attack on education.

During a protest rally outside the Commissioner Office, Mayor of Mardan, Syed Support Allah Mayar, stated that despite the PTI government coming to power twice after the ANP, no progress was made on any part of the Greater Education Complex project. Now, with the third PTI government in place, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has announced the sale of the complex’s land.

Speakers at the rally rejected the government’s decision to sell university lands, calling it an act against education. They asserted that the land of universities belongs to the students and that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur should not be allowed to sell even an inch of it.
