China: 75-Year-Old Powerful Typhoon Causes Devastation

A powerful typhoon, the strongest to hit China in 75 years, has caused widespread devastation in Shanghai.

Under the impact of the typhoon, winds reaching speeds of 151 kilometers per hour blew away trees, building windows, and advertising billboards.

The strong winds even overturned a truck on the road, while pedestrians used trees and poles to shield themselves from being blown away.

The typhoon led to the cancellation of 1,400 flights and the evacuation of over 400,000 people to safe locations.

Affected areas have recorded up to 12 inches of rain, and the Chinese Meteorological Department has indicated that rainfall is expected to continue in the city.
