Dr. Yunus: Sheikh Hasina Must Be Brought Back from India; Bangladeshis Will Not Find Peace Otherwise

Dhaka: Bangladesh’s interim government’s chief advisor, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has stated that Sheikh Hasina must be brought back; otherwise, the people of Bangladesh will not be at peace.

In an interview with Indian media, Muhammad Yunus said that until the extradition request is made, Sheikh Hasina should remain silent in India. He added that if India wants to keep Sheikh Hasina until the extradition demand, it is essential for her to remain quiet.

Dr. Yunus expressed that no one is pleased with Sheikh Hasina making statements from India, as her comments about Bangladesh are seen as unfriendly. The chief advisor of Bangladesh said that Sheikh Hasina fled due to public uprising and anger, and she has been granted asylum in India, where she is running a campaign.

He emphasized that Sheikh Hasina must be brought back; otherwise, the people of Bangladesh will not find peace. He stated that Sheikh Hasina should be held accountable publicly in Bangladesh for the atrocities she has committed.

It is worth noting that former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina fled to India on August 5 amid student protests.
