Cairo – Hamas-Israel Ceasefire Talks End Without Agreement

Ceasefire talks between Hamas and Israel in Cairo have ended without reaching an agreement.

According to Egyptian security sources, Hamas and Israel failed to agree on multiple proposals put forward by mediators.

Hamas stated that the U.S.’s claims of an immediate ceasefire agreement are false and are being made for electoral purposes.

Hamas leader Osama Hamdan said that they remain committed to the ceasefire proposals agreed upon in July and have rejected Israel’s new conditions.

Hamas has rejected the new Israeli conditions for the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

According to the news agency, the Hamas delegation left Cairo and returned to Doha after talks with Egyptian and Qatari mediators.

The report indicates that in the recent discussions on the Gaza ceasefire, Israel had set conditions, including maintaining control near the Gaza-Egypt border and screening displaced Palestinians at the start of the ceasefire.

White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated that the U.S. is still working in Cairo to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

It is noteworthy that since October 7, 2023, brutal Israeli attacks on Gaza have resulted in the deaths of 40,334 Palestinians, with over 93,356 injured, and millions displaced. More than half of the victims of Israeli brutality are women and children.
