Colombia Halts Coal Supply to Israel Amid Gaza Conflict

Colombia has stopped supplying coal to Israel due to the ongoing massacre in Gaza. Colombian President Gustavo Petro has accused Israel of using Colombian coal in bombs that target Palestinian children.

Previously, in June, Colombia had also halted coal supplies to Israel.

According to a report from a U.S. news agency, Israel imported $320 million worth of coal from Colombia in the first eight months of last year. Notably, Israel imports 50% of its coal needs from Colombia.

Earlier, President Gustavo Petro announced the termination of diplomatic relations with Israel over its actions in Gaza. Petro has been a staunch critic of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and has requested to join the International Court of Justice in a genocide case against Israel.
