Danish Shipping Company Plans $2 Billion Investment in Pakistan

Denmark’s renowned shipping company, Maersk, has introduced a plan to invest $2 billion in Pakistan.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be signed this month between Maersk and the Karachi Port Trust. Following this, the Danish shipping company will invest $2 billion over two years in Pakistan’s port and transport infrastructure.

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Qaisar Sheikh, stated that sales tax on processing plants, fisheries seeds, and feed in the maritime sector has been abolished. The government will also provide land for building processing plants for maritime exports.

The Federal Minister further mentioned that the Ministry of Maritime Affairs is providing a favorable environment, and the business community must also play an active role. This initiative by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) reflects progress in Pakistan’s maritime and transport sectors.
