Pakistani mountaineer severely injured during broad peak expedition; rescue team to depart today
Pakistani mountaineer Muhammad Murad Sadpara has been severely injured during an expedition on Broad Peak. A team of local mountaineers is set to depart tonight to rescue him.
Muhammad Murad Sadpara had previously retrieved the body of Hassan Shigri, who passed away last year at a high altitude on K2.
Murad, along with a Portuguese female mountaineer, embarked on the Broad Peak expedition last week. He was severely injured on Saturday at Camp One after being struck by a falling rock.
Other mountaineers, including Sajid Sadpara and Naila Kiani, have demanded that Murad Sadpara be rescued by helicopter.
Muhammad Murad Sadpara was also leading the K2 Clean-Up Expedition this year and has successfully summited four peaks, including K2.
