My sons do household chores, and I pay them for it: Mathira

Pakistani model and host Mathira has revealed that she pays her three sons for doing household chores.

According to media reports, Mathira married Punjabi singer Flint J in August 2014, but the couple divorced in 2018.

In a recent interview, Mathira discussed raising her sons and also touched on the negative attitudes society often adopts towards child-rearing.

Speaking about her sons’ upbringing, Mathira emphasized that a mother’s behavior deeply influences her children’s personalities, and this influence affects not only daughters but also sons.

She mentioned that she has three sons, the eldest being 16 years old. Mathira advised all parents of teenage children to overlook their mistakes because, at this age, children need space. Teenage minds are not fully under their own control, which can make them prone to conflicts.

Mathira explained that one of her sons washes dishes at home, for which he receives money each month from her sister. Another son prepares breakfast, and a third son cleans cabinets, for which she pays him. By compensating them for these tasks, her sons learn the value of these chores and, importantly, develop the habit of participating in household work.

She added that while she doesn’t remind her sons about household responsibilities, she does place the household bills in front of them so they can understand the cost of things. This, she believes, helps instill a sense of responsibility in them.
