Severe rain in twin cities; evacuation orders near Nullah Lai, military called in

Islamabad: Due to torrential rain in the twin cities, Nullah Lai has experienced severe flooding, prompting authorities to order the evacuation of surrounding neighborhoods.

According to media, at the Kattarian point in Nullah Lai, water levels have exceeded 22 feet, while at the Gwalmandi point, water levels are also approaching dangerous levels.

The Flood Control Room has issued an alert. The Flood Control Room stated that evacuation will begin at 20 feet at Kattarian.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall in Rawalpindi has inundated several low-lying areas, leading the administration to request military assistance, Rescue 1122, and other agencies.

Flood sirens have been activated near Gwalmandi Bridge, and nearby neighborhoods have been placed on high alert.

Subsequently, as continuous rain has caused water levels in Nullah Lai at Kattarian to exceed 21 feet, the Flood Control Room has issued an evacuation alert for the neighborhoods.

The administration has ordered residents living along the banks of Nullah Lai to evacuate, and efforts are underway to move residents of nearby areas to safer locations.

The administration has set up flood relief camps at five different educational institutions in Rawalpindi.

Sources indicate that continuous rainfall in the twin cities is causing water levels in Nullah Lai to rise. At Kattarian, water levels have reached 22 feet, while in Gwalmandi, water levels have touched 19 feet.

According to data, the rainfall in the twin cities has led to dangerous flooding in Nullah Lai.

The Meteorological Department reports that 38 mm of rain was recorded in Sayedpur, 82 mm in Golra, 71 mm in Bokhara, 88 mm in PMD, 66 mm in Shamsabad, and 34 mm in Kacheri.

Additionally, several areas in Rawalpindi Cantt, including Range Road, Shale Valley, Jan Colony, and Chak Jalal Din, have experienced water entering homes.

Cantt and Chaklala Cantt areas have been particularly affected by the rainwater, which has entered homes due to the lack of timely cleaning of drains.
