7.1 Magnitude earthquake in Japan, tsunami warning issued
A tsunami warning has been issued following a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 in Japan.
According to foreign news agencies, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake was recorded in the southwestern part of Japan, after which a tsunami warning was issued.
Local media initially reported the earthquake’s magnitude as 6.9, but it was later revised to 7.1.
Authorities have issued warnings of waves up to one meter high for the western islands of Kyushu and Shikoku.
Japanese media also reported that the tsunami warning has been extended to Kagoshima and Ehime.
